Part III – Key Takeaways and Additional Resources

We’ve covered a lot about menopause – what it is, what changes are taking place in your body during perimenopause and in your post-menopausal years, and treatments for managing your symptoms.

Let’s recap the key takeaways of menopause:

  1. Menopause is a natural phase of life and understanding the symptoms and how to manage them can make this transition smoother. Remember, you’re not alone, and resources and treatments are available to help.
  2. An individual has reached menopause when they have not had a menstrual period for twelve consecutive months. They are then considered post-menopausal.
  3. There are 34 symptoms associated with menopause transition. An individual may experience symptoms throughout perimenopause (the phase before menopause) and into their post-menopausal years.
  4. There are effective treatment options – hormonal and non-hormonal – that can relieve, if not lessen, the effects of your menopause-related symptoms.
  5. For many women, the benefits of hormone therapy outweigh the risks and can dramatically improve their quality of life. Speak with your healthcare provider to determine if hormone therapy is right for you.
