The pelvic floor, back and buttock muscles, abdominals, and our diaphragm are all components of the core. The pelvic floor is the foundation of our entire core and works in tandem with all of the muscles of the core with every motion we make.

The pelvic floor muscles, or Levator Ani, span from the tailbone to the pubic bone and side to side between the sit bones. A pelvic floor that functions well is critical so much of our daily routine. For example, it helpspreventaccidents on the way to the bathroom, allows for comfortable and enjoyable sex, and supports someone during pregnancy and childbirth. When these muscles are compromised, symptoms associated with GSM can emerge.
